My favourite manga, no doubts!

Okay first things first. Ai Yazawa herself  is one of my favourite mangaka,  she just has this way of quite perfectly depict very human and complex characters in ordinary yet special stories. The stories are very normal but super interesting and easy to relate to!

Paradise kiss is my current (and has been for about 2-3 years) manga of her, if it's my actual favourite manga of all I've read?

The story revolves around 18 year old Yukari Hayasaka who is in her last year of high school and is pretty much flunking it...(tell me that someone else than me just feel/felt connected to her with just that!). She accidentally runs into  some senior students of a design high school that asks her to model for their senior fashion show. Initially she sees them as a burden and look down upon them, for not studing something more ''serious''  like a lot of people around her. How ever after a while these students passion for what they love doesn't seem so stupid to Yukari anymore and she decides to join their group and become their model,  all while trying to figure out what she wants to do herself.

It's 3-5 mangas that follow Yukari's struggle of trying to find herself and not the one other wants her to be in these turbulent last months of school. It's a story about growing, acceptance, finding oneself  and taking responsability for ones own life!

For me this is a very inspiring, almost emotional story as I can relate to Yukari on almost a creepy level~ I remember the first time I read this manga some scenes almost felt like a punch in the stomach or a slap that woke me up sort of.... in a good way!

If you like manga.... no wait even if you've never touched one before I recommend trying this one out just to understand that all of these ''comics''  aren't just childish or fantasy stories but some are great actual stories that could probably get some serious recognition if they were normal books or movies. Don't let the art scare you! Especially with Ai Yazawa, who is a mangaka (''author'') that markets herself to a older audiance has a some really good stories for young adults to explore with various complex yet familiar characters where one recongize oneself, who go through things that are special and intresting to read about but also easy to relate to!
